The British tennis star achieved the biggest win of his professional journey by coming back from a set down to defeat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Although he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this win marks Norrie's maiden win over a current world No 1.

"Enormous. Incredibly significant for me," said Norrie, who joins as the newest UK male player in history to overcome a global number one. "Returning from a physical setback last year, I lost in the opening stage of qualifiers here. I just sought to embrace my game in the second half of the year. To get a triumph like this, it's the most significant victory of my professional life, my initial victory over the world No 1 and arguably the most in-form athlete in the tennis scene right now."

The British player, ranked No 31, also ended Alcaraz's impressive run of nine straight final appearances and 17 consecutive Masters 1000 wins, which represented the best series of outcomes in the Spaniard's early professional path.

Contest Overview

Alcaraz appeared to be progressing easily to success early on as he eased in the first set.
