Netflix Casts Ideal Actor for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The platform declared this week that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Mr. 2. This character can use their power to morph into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action show, as in the source material and anime.

The new cast member is joined by several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to life, including chief Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.

Although this character is a major member of Baroque Works, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a significant shift in the timing of their first appearance, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the part. Along with their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is set to return for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
