The British government is ready to advance with using the full worth of immobilized Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, France, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They added that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the America.

UK sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian assets since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to push forward toward employing the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to end the war.

He stated that additional sanctions over the next period would increase the strain on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to European leaders convened in the Danish capital last week to discuss using frozen Russia's holdings for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to confiscate or utilize frozen Russian assets, as reported by news outlets.

The total of seized Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be almost €211bn.

Russia executed widespread aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on that day, leading to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.
